ALICE MEETS DOROTHY: The wizard of wonderland

"Our abilities depend only in our mind, not in our conditions"

So, yesterday I went to the performance ever, not because of the quality of the show (which was quite good) but because of the meaning and feeling it gave me. The theater school is called "Arts for All", whose purpose is to teach arts to needy children.
So the play was about both "Alice in wonderland" and "The wizard of oz", in which the actors and actresses where the children themselves". Without being rude, you could see a girl on a wheelchair, autistic children and even a couple of blind boys, all of them performing and doing things healthy people do in a daily life. Isn't that amazing? I mean, that was really inspiring, as my rommie Bandron said.
I think this was a great opportunity for all of us to value the life we've got and become a better person each day of our life. If they can do that, why are we standing in the same place doing nothing? We might need a cue like such but it all starts with something and I hope we all realize the message inside this note.

Unfortunately I couldn't take pictures due to many of the children's conditions. However, I really insist you on looking for "Arts for All" on the web, it is an amazing school which gives huge opportunities to these angels.

Thank you very much for reading and wait for the next coming blog about the Hopi nation!

¡Adiós!

Welcome to Tucson, AZ

So... it was July 27th when we had our first step in Tucson, Arizona. A 100º temperature welcomed us surrounded with cactus and mountains such as Katalina or Rincon Mountains.

The trip was quite nice, 1 hour flying and 2 hours driving... we arrived to Rincon High school and everything started.

Since now on, the show will be practically different.... new songs, different order and even dancers. The staff members are no longer on stage with us, which means that the next song will be our first full cast show ever, I am really looking foward to it!

Here is where we are staying the longest... 3 weeks to be exactly. During the first week we were all focused, obviously, in the reunion, which was incredibely excellent. There were over 1000 people sharing one single thing: Up With People.
The fact of being on stage with the audience singing along not only made me feel part of the UWP legacy, but also filled me with the famous UWP pride that every alumni has.

The city is quite nice, the people are kind (I think that's because of t weather, usually people in warm climates are more friendly than those in cold climates, just a theory tho!) We're surrounded by a desert which makes my US idea completely different. The last american city I went to was New York, so imagine! Instead of skyscrapers there are cactus! It's really cool!

My host family is amazing, I live with my hostmom, hostdad and a 17 year old host brother. They are really generous people and know how to spoil us lol. My goal for this week is to try to understand the "American Mexican" context which is really important in Arizona. It's been always a hard topic for me since I believe in the mexican sovereignity and somehow I feel indignated when they talk about a "shared culture". In spite of it, I am sure there are many new things I have to learn.

All in all, I think my experience in Arizona will be a perfect beginning to be on the road. The weather is acceptable, people are great and I find mexican candies, which is amazing. So I will try to keep you posted of anything, I will that handling a blog, journal, facebook and twitter at the same time might be difficult, but I will try to keep you guys posted of what we do.

I won't leave before attaching this beautiful picture of Tucson! :)

3)Forgive people who have hurted me and apologise those I have hurted.
4) Start recognising my mistakes and value other persons' opinions.
5) Love and be loved.

QUESTION:
Where will you be in 10 years?
Probably starting a family, if not trying to find that "someone", with a good position as a politician and with, at least, a master degree in either economics or political sciences. Living in Mexico somewhere nice and starting any kind of organisation or community service group with a single purpose and lots of actions.

Who do you want to be?
I asked myself this question a couple of hours ago, and I guess the best answer for it is to accomplish my three roles in life: be the best husband, the best dad and the best friend. I also want to reach my personal beliefs such as professional profile, character/ reputation and purpose in life. I want to be recognised as a reliable and confident person who cares about other and the world.

What is my purpose in UWP?
Honestly I am not either a singer nor a dancer, but I do have a purpose and it is to impact people. The world's on a wrong path and it is us who must fix it out. I think of impact as a chain which start with one single person and finishes with a whole community, city or even country. When I go back home, I will be satisfied by knowing that I have begun a new chain whose purpose is to make this world a better place to live in.

Ten things I'm good at:
Languages, hugging, making people smile, debate, loving, playing cards, understanding differences, cooking, giving advices & organising stuff.

Ten things I'm bad at:
Physics, singing, many sports, keeping my mouth shut, driving, recognising my mistakes, saving money while shopping, respecting hierarchy, chemistry & being calmed.

So, I don't want to make this too long so I'll stay here for now and try to finish it later, I will also keep posting updates from UWP and traveling, thanks for reading and do not leave without leaving a commet! :)

Love,
Packo
